DIY Fourth Of July Shoes
Quickly turn plain shoes into these festive DIY easy stars and stripes shoes in a snap!
With Summer officially here, it’s time to get ready to celebrate our country’s biggest holiday: Independence Day. Whether you’re heading to a parade, party, or concert, wearing something red, white, and blue is a must! Flag attire is one of the most popular ways to get decked out and festive for the 4th of July.
If you’re looking for a quick project to get you 4th of July ready, these DIY easy stars and stripes shoes are for you. With only a few supplies you can transform any pair of shoes in minutes, making them the perfect 4th of July accessory.
Supplies:
Beacon Adhesives Fabri-Tac
White Canvas Shoes
Cotton Fabric (In denim and red)
1/4″ White and Red Striped Ribbon
Scissors
Clear Tape
Cardstock
Pen/Pencil
Instructions:
Step 1: Create a star template to fit on the front of your shoes. You’ll need two different star sizes with one being larger than the other. The template sizes will be based on the shoe size you are using (I used a child shoe). To create the star templates, you can either draw the stars on a piece of card stock, print them from the internet, or use an electronic die cutting machine like a Cricut.
Step 2: Place your largest star template on the denim fabric and trace around it. You’ll trace two stars.
Step 3: Use the smaller template on the red fabric. You’ll need 4 red stars.
Step 4: Cut out all of the stars.
Step 5: Add drops of glue to the back of the largest star.
Step 6: Place the star on the front of the shoe and lightly tap it down for best results.
Step 7: Add glue to the red star and add it next to the larger star. Then add a red star to the center of the denim star. Repeat these steps to create and add stars to the other shoe.
Step 8: Remove the laces from the shoes and use one as a guide to cut your ribbon.
Step 9: Place the end of the ribbon onto a piece of tape.
Step 10: Tightly roll the lace a few times to create the end of the shoelace. You don’t want to roll it too much because the end can become too thick to put back into the holes on your shoes.
Step 11: Then, trim the excess tape. You’ll repeat these steps to finish the other end of the shoelace and to create the shoelace for the second ribbon.
All you need to do now is slip on your DIY easy stars and stripes shoes and be ready for all of the compliments that will come your way! You can customize any size shoe along with other shoe colors. The fabric stars and stripe laces would look great on denim, red, or black colored shoes. Just let your imagination run wild!
