How do I remove Fabri-Tac™ from fabric?
The best way to remove Fabri-Tac™ from most fabrics is by dry cleaning. However, sometimes that is not possible. You may use the following method:
Supplies Needed
1. Spoon or butter knife
2. Acetone
3. Clean rag
Before Starting
1. ALWAYS test first on a small, unseen area of the item to ensure that the acetone will not discolor or adversely affect the fabric.
2. NEVER use a dining room table or any finished surface as a work area as acetone will strip off the finish. Cover your work area with plastic or newspaper.
Be Careful
1. Acetone is a FLAMMABLE solvent and should always be kept away from heat, open flames, lighted cigarettes and other sources of ignition.
2. Keep acetone out of reach from children.
3. Wear eye protection.
4. Work in a well-ventilated area.
Instructions:
Step 1: Remove as much of the dried Fabri-Tac™ as you can by using your fingernail, a spoon or a butter knife.
Step 2: Wet a small portion of the rag with acetone. Slowly rub the wet rag directly onto the adhesive to be removed. Wet and turn the rag often to keep it from drying out.
Step 3: The wet rag will soften and liquefy the glue. This will be a slow process. Gently peel off any blobs of glue you see and discard.
DO NOT DIP THE GARMENT OR FABRIC INTO THE ACETONE! This will make the glue more difficult to remove and may permanently damage the fabric!
Some individuals may be sensitive to acetone’s smell. If you or anyone near you dislikes the smell, immediately discontinue the removal process.
Other Fabri-Tac™ Tips and Tricks:
- Fabri-Tac™ is fast grabbing, quick drying, permanent, crystal clear, flexible AND it won’t stain or soak into fabrics.
- Always read directions carefully for successful application.
- Keep bottle covered when not in use, to prevent Fabri-Tac™ from evaporating. Lose the little red tip? Cover the bottle opening with plastic wrap and replace cap.
- Since Fabri-Tac™ is fast drying, please do not delay in bonding surfaces.
- Always pre-wash fabrics to remove any possible sizing before applying Fabri-Tac™.
- Avoid spreading glue too thinly as it may then dry too quickly.
